August 1 – In the Hills

Today, we journeyed 50 [min] up rough uneven terrain to the rural community of El Mojito. The roads started as foot paths many years ago. Travelling over rocky winding traverses with gentle to steep grades, we ended up on a plateau, over 400 [m] above Langue City center, as shown in the photo, with large soccer fields, school and a community of homes. After repairing the wells, we learned that they were over 100 years old! This little remote outcrop has survived for such a long time. Why? After repairing the well we asked the community leader whether an outsider could use the well. The answer was an immediate and welcoming yes.

This posture of sharing and welcoming of strangers, reminds me that “We love because He first loves us.” 1 John 4:19
